Registration deadline: January 1st, 2019

 Spoken Arabic

We offer a month-long intensive course in spoken Arabic (Levantine dialect) during the month of January-February. Classes meet five hours a day, four days a week, with an academic tour offered on the fifth day to locations of interest in various Arab communities in Israel, such as:

The Old City of Acre (Akko): from walking along the impressive walls of Acre and the Templars' tunnel to a visit in the 'Hamam el-Basha' (the great 18th century bath house).

Druze Villages in the Golan Heights: to experience the unique culture and daily life of traditional Druze villages. Students will visit a Druze family in their home and learn about their fascinating history and religion.

Study Tour in Jerusalem: students will visit the Temple Mount, a holy site for Jews, Christians, and Muslims, with a lecture given by an Islamic archaeology expert. An additional visit to the Museum of Islamic Art in Jerusalem will enrich students' knowledge and experience of this important field.

The course focuses on acquiring vocabulary and grammar skills using everyday topics and daily situations. It equips learners with the essential skills needed to communicate confidently and effectively in Levantine Arabic in a broad range of situations.

No prior knowledge of the language is required.

Students receive individual help from University of Haifa students who are native Arabic speakers.
