The course focuses on the definitions and problems of politics as they appear in the Hebrew Bible. It underlines the distinction between different types of leadership (Prophets, Judges, Kings) and compares the Biblical conceptions of leadership with those of the later (rabbinic) Jewish tradition. The course will be based essentially on text reading, free interpretation and discussion of traditional and critical exegesis.
